Creating a Unified Operating System for Modern Smart Homes
About the Project
Home automation in India has grown rapidly, but the experience for homeowners has remained fragmented. While smart lights, fans, curtains, locks, gates, and security systems are widely available, managing them often requires multiple controllers, applications, and interfaces.
Cue Homes set out to solve this problem at an ecosystem level. Instead of building another standalone automation product, they envisioned a unified control layer that could work across brands, devices, and home configurations, while being deployed through trusted home automation partners.
The platform integrates 50+ leading global and regional home automation brands, spanning lighting systems, HVAC, access control, security cameras, smart locks, audio-visual systems, energy management, and sensors. This includes widely adopted ecosystems and devices from brands across consumer electronics, industrial automation, and smart living.
At the core of this vision was a chip-based integration framework paired with a single mobile application, allowing homeowners to control their entire automated environment through one interface. IConflux partnered with Cue Homes to design and deliver the digital experience that connects partners, configurations, and end users into one cohesive system.

One Platform. Every Automation Domain.
Cue Homes goes beyond single-product automation to bring every major home automation domain under one roof:
Lighting and ambience control
Climate and HVAC management
Security, access, and surveillance
Audio-visual and media systems
Energy monitoring and power management
All of this is unified through one mobile application, regardless of brand, protocol, or device category.
What makes the solution even more powerful is its seamless compatibility with popular digital assistants. Cue Homes integrates smoothly with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home, enabling voice-controlled automation alongside app-based control, without compromising flexibility or security.
At IConflux, we partnered with Cue Homes to design and deliver the complete digital experience that makes this ecosystem usable in the real world. Our focus was to translate a highly complex, multi-brand automation environment into a simple, intuitive, and scalable experience — one that works equally well for automation partners configuring homes and for homeowners using them every day.
Different brands offered automation fordifferent device categories.
Each system came with its own app, controller, and logic.
Homeowners struggled with inconsistent user experiences.
The Challenge
The biggest challenge in home automation wasn’t hardware availability. It was
fragmentation and operational complexity.
Access control across family members, guests, and staff was difficult to manage.
Scaling automation beyond basic use cases introduced security and usability risks.
Cue Homes already had a robust backend and hardware foundation. The real challenge was to orchestrate multiple automation technologies into a single, intuitive, and secure user experience, while supporting real-world deployment through partners.
Objective
The objective was to design a scalable automation ecosystem that simplifies both deployment and usage.
The solution needed to :
Unify automation devices across lighting, climate, access, security, and utilities.
Support multi-brand and multi-protocol hardware seamlessly.
Enable partners to configure home-specific automation setups efficiently & remotely
Provide granular access control for residents, guests, staff, and service personnel.
Allow room-wise, user-wise, and scenario-based automation.
Deliver consistent control whether users were at home or remote.
Ensure security, reliability, and future scalability.
The Solution
IConflux designed and developed a unified digital human-centric interface that supports multiple integrations and applications, with role-based visibility and standardized layouts across devices.
Unified Control Across Device Categories
The Cue Homes platform brings together control for:

Lighting systems with dimming and mood configurations

Fans and HVAC for temperature and comfort management

Curtains, blinds, and motorized windows

Gates, doors, and smart locks

Security systems including cameras, sensors, and alarms

Power and utility monitoring where applicable
Partner Configuration System
To support deployment at scale, IConflux helped design a secure web-based configuration portal for Cue Homes’ automation partners.
Through this portal, partners can define device configurations, automation rules, access permissions, and custom setups based on each homeowner’s requirements. Once configured, access is seamlessly provisioned to the end user via the Cue Homes mobile application.
This ensures flexibility at the partner level while maintaining a consistent and intuitive experience for homeowners.

Advanced Access & Permission Management
The platform supports sophisticated access control scenarios.
Temporary or permanent guest access can be granted remotely.
Permissions can be customized down to room or device level.
Restricted zones such as offices, pools, or private rooms can be defined.
Separate access profiles can be created for children, staff, or service vendors.
This balances convenience with security without adding operational complexity.
Smart Automation & Scenario-Based Control
Beyond manual control, the system enables intelligent automation.
Time-based scheduling aligned with daily routines.
Scene creation for work, devotional, leisure, or entertainment settings.
Synchronized behavior across multiple devices and rooms.
Reliable execution of automation rules once configured.
Personalized and Adaptive User Interface
The mobile application itself is customizable.
Users can prioritize frequently used controls on the home screen
Room-wise visual themes improve clarity and usability.
Interface layouts adapt to user preferences.
The design supports future device additions without disrupting experience.
